Employer Branding
The Career Center offers several opportunities for employers to build name recognition with Stony Brook students.
PARTICIPATE IN CAREER EDUCATION EVENTS
Each year the Career Center looks to its employer partners to help us educate our students on various career related topics. Student attendance at employer instructed seminars is much higher, which offers great visibility for the organizations who volunteer. As a result of your efforts, our students will better prepared employees when they get to you after graduation! The following opportunities exist:
-
Mock Interview Day
Practice makes perfect! This event is designed to give students the interview practice they need to be polished by the time they get to you. Each employer mentors 4-6 students over the course of one hour. The event culminates in a networking session that enables employers to meet all of the Mock Interview Day participants. Last year nearly 120 students participated! Sponsorship of this event is also available. For details on sponsorship opportunities log into your ZebraNet account and go to the resource library of your homepage.
Thank you to our past sponsors: NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL, TARGET, CANON, VECTOR MARKETING, TRAVELERS, FREQUENCY ELECTRONICS, CENTER FOR BIOTECHNOLOGY

This event helps students learn how to wine and dine (the non-alcoholic version, or course). Organized and led by representatives from various student organizations on campus, the program typically draws close to 200 students. Faculty members and corporate representatives serve as mentors, leading discussions about appropriate small talk at networking functions as they listen to our speaker, Ms. Manners, teach them which fork to use. Sponsorship of this event is also available. For details on sponsorship opportunities log into your ZebraNet account and go to the resource library of your homepage.

Employer Resume Clinics
Before they attend our job/internship fairs, hundreds of students visit the Career Center to have their resumes critiqued. We solicit help from employers to ensure our students’ resumes are in excellent shape. This is an excellent opportunity to meet with students from various backgrounds, network, and leave a lasting impression on our students. Shifts are available Monday to Friday from 10:00am – 12:00pm and 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Organizations can volunteer for both shifts or we can create a time schedule that is convenient for you.

JANUARY SHADOW PROGRAM
This program enables students to take an in-depth look at your organization. January Shadows are typically juniors and seniors who have specific career interests. For one to three days you can share your real-life experiences with students by allowing them to “shadow” you. In addition, some January shadows offer 2-3 weeks of their time to help organizations with short-term projects. This program is a rewarding experience for both the students and the professionals whom they shadow.

CAREER CONTACT NETWORK (CCN)
The Career Contact Network is a database of alumni and friends of Stony Brook who volunteer their time to share field expertise with students. The program helps students learn more about careers through conversations with real professionals. This is your opportunity to encourage Stony Brook alumni who work for your organization to join the network, help students, and in turn, increase company name recognition among our student population. All CCN volunteers can actually control the number of hits they receive monthly. To join, click here.
