Credentials/Letters of Recommendation

In 2003 we joined a group of elite institutions who use Interfolio.com to process credentials services. Such major institutions include: Michigan State University, University of Virginia, Georgetown, Rutgers, and Cornell.

As a faculty member, your role in writing letters of recommendation for students applying to graduate programs has not changed. What has changed is how you deliver the letter to the student's credentials file. You have three options:

  • send your letter through the US Mail
  • fax your letter
  • upload your letter directly to the student's Interfolio account (see below for more on Interfolio)

Free Interfolio Accounts for Faculty

Dear Faculty, 

We would like to give you a complementary six-month Interfolio file-holder account.

As you may know, our office uses Interfolio to provide students and alumni with an academic credentials management service. Since many doctoral candidates, post-doctoral students, and faculty use Interfolio to store and distribute their academic dossiers and teaching portfolio documents, we thought you might be interested in having an Interfolio account for yourself.

If you already have an Interfolio Writer's account, you can combine it with this free fileholder's account. Just log in to your Writer's account and click on the "My Documents" tab to get to the registration page, and  select the "Special Offer Code" option in the "Account Type" section and enter the code "UC1N30". This will give you access to your free six-month account.
