Employer Relations

As a faculty member, you may receive calls from employers who want to hire your best students. Ethical guidelines for the hiring transaction are available from the National Association of Colleges & Employers.

Feel free to refer employers to Andrea Lipack, Associate Director at 2-6892, who will work closely with your corporate contacts to promote their opportunities and gain visibility among students.Look here for a list of companies that recruit from Stony Brook:

ZebraNet Introduction

In an effort to keep faculty informed about the types of organizations that recruit our students, faculty can have their very own ZebraNet account. ZebraNet is our job listing and recruiting system which allows employers to post job and internship opportunities at no charge, register for career events and job fairs, request dates to conduct on-campus interviews, and report information about students who have been hired. Students can create accounts that enable them to upload their resumes and apply for job/internship and volunteer opportunities online, sign up for career events/job fairs, participate in on-campus recruiting, and research employers that have relationships with the Career Center.

Our hope is that faculty will utilize their ZebraNet accounts to become familiar with the types of opportunities posted on ZebraNet and help in marketing this excellent service to students. It's a nice tool to use when students ask what types of opportunities they can pursue before and after graduation.

Your account will enable you to:

  • Access the Employer Directory - this includes employers who have selected to be visible in an online directory for students.
  • Review internship, part-time job, full-time job, and volunteer opportunities posted through the system
  • Assist us in collecting crucial information about where are students are interning or accepting position after graduation by report hires through your account.

ZebraNet also provides students with access to the Career Center's Career Contact Network. This is a database of alumni and friends of the University who have volunteered to make themselves available to take inquiries from students about their professions. It is an excellent tool to assist in the career decision process and we are looking to significantly grow the number of participating professionals. If you keep in touch with past graduates you think might be interested it's an excellent way for them to give back and help students at the same time. Send interested professionals here to register.
