What was your role?
I participated in a team that maintain and improve an application. Based on changes in business requirement, we need to change the application as well. I was working on the interface.
What was the most rewarding aspect of your internship/research experience?
The rewarding aspect was that I didn't know too much about JSP and JavaScript, but I still was able to learn it in a few weeks by myself with the help of others. Just within a month, I was able to finish the task for them.
What is/was one example of a challenge you faced? Why?
The challenge was that I needed to gain trust from other people, because the whole application is very critical and sensitive. A few mistakes can break it all. Therefore, I needed take it serious and be very careful about it. I had to have a right attitude to win the trust.
How has this experience affected your future plan?
One thing that keeps me in the bank is that I believe I can have more opportunities to learn about the financial market. In addition, working in a big company is a very different experience.
Did you utilize any of the skills you learned from your classes for this experience?
Of course. The position had some requirement on the skills and knowledge I learn. Since they wanted a technology intern, they expected me to know Java programming, debug, some application development process. Besides that, any knowledge that I learned in the class is very useful whether it is logic, reasoning, and even European history.

Any opportunity is an opportunity. Utilize it fully and don't take it for granted.
