What is Volunteers for Community Service?
Volunteers for Community Service (VCS) connects potential student volunteers with over 200 nonprofit organizations on and off campus.
Who does VCS help serve?
The Career Center’s VCS department matches student volunteers with organizations in the following areas:
• Human Services
• Helping Professions
• Youth Services
• Health Professions
• Senior Citizen Services
• Animals
• Environmental
• Financial literacy
You may volunteer to fulfill your major requirements or just to help others. VCS sponsors various one day events that are great for students who don't have a lot of time but still want to make a difference. We can work around your schedule but some organizations do require a certain number of hours.

How can I benefit from volunteering through VCS?
Through volunteering, you will be able to:
• Gain leadership skills
• Obtain experience related to your major
• Enhance your soft skills (creativity, decision-making, problem solving, etc.)
• Help the community by mentoring a child, helping to build a house, planting a garden, etc.
• Fulfill mandated service requirements
• Participate in either short- or long-term projects, whichever works best for you
